Aral Sea
This page contains information regarding the below topic for the Aral Sea 2000-1003 project investigations and will be updated as the programme develops.
Task 1. Collection and compilation of hydrology and groundwater data by means of a GeoInformationSystem (GIS).
The aim of this task is to collect and to compile available hydrological, hydrochemical and hydrogeological data, including data from (i) bore holes and active well, (ii) data from water quality monitoring network, (iii) field exploration work, (iv) bench tests and (v) control measurements. There are currently numerous separate data sets available, all related to the surface and subsurface water resources of the Aral Sea region. The data can be retrieved from various NIS institutions and archives.
Expected results: The compiled data (GIS) will provide an efficient and easily accessible basis for research and operational purposes, facilitate interdisciplinary studies, faster multi-disciplinary networking of scientists, development and verification of predictive models.
