Task 9. Establishment of guidelines for groundwater use for irrigation.
Since groundwater use in irrigation may have adverse effects on soil and groundwater in the long term, groundwater, soils (hydraulic and chemical properties) and irrigation techniques will be investigated in order to determine suitable crops and irrigation techniques as well as possible irrigation areas. Drainage and treatment of irrigation return flow will be considered and GIS layers will be available showing potential areas for irrigation projects.
Expected results: Master plan for irrigation projects.
