which is a regional co-operative programme designed to promote literacy.

ASIAED Project Asia Education: The NGO, non-profit ASIAED assists in supporting the UN Millennium Development Goals.
Local economic development initiatives and income generation

Proposed actions include training for the unemployed, offering practical skills and vocational training to increase the possibility of employment or self-employment, with a special focus on women and young people..

UNESCO leads the global Education for All (EFA) movement, aiming to meet the learning needs of all children, youth and adults by 2015.
1. Existing structures like vocational education and training (VET) schools should be further developed, including provision of assistance in reinforcing their capacity and infrastructure. Training in teaching methods and school management for VET schools using the experience of local and international NGOs.

2. Support to micro and small business development, including through business incubators, business associations and other local business development service providers, as well as to cooperative ventures for trading, marketing, machinery sharing. Access of rural businesses to information, market intelligence, business-related and technical training and advice.

3. Access to information, training and advice on agriculture and on-farm / off-farm productive activities. Enhancement of rural supply chains (e.g. formation of agricultural input supply associations, promoting links with existing seed producers), support to primary production and agro-processing (with a particular reference to the improvement of post-harvest processing, marketing, handling, distribution and storage operations). Facilitation of access to suitable rural finance. Support to cost-efficient irrigation and drainage projects.
